CHARRAE MYERS I was the lucky one to be the flag barrier at the opening ceremony Tuesday night 7th of April, it was a memorable and mind blowing feeling.

I have completed my first world youth championships today at 12:00pm. It was such a incredibly feeling, though, it was beyond amazing.

I attempted 61 snatch and 76 clean and jerk and was unsuccessful unfortunately, but I managed to finish on 58 snatch and 73 clean and jerk. I'm happy with how I lifted, there were some tough and competitors from all countries.

The week we have spent in Peru has been so great and filled with lots of fun and exciting memories!

HAILEE JARRETT
As this was my first International Weightlifting event I was quite nervous leading up to it, and wasn't sure what to expect. But I was fortunate to be able to talk to other athletes from various countries around the world about their experiences at their first International competitions (even if it was over Google translate!) which seemed to have calmed my nerves a little bit!

Although the total I achieved on the day was not my best (128) I was extremely grateful to have been here competing among the best 48kg Youths in the world.

Now that competition is over, Charrae, Erin and myself have enjoyed doing a bit shopping and sightseeing around Peru, which has been a lot of fun.

I have been extremely encouraged by all of the supportive messages on Facebook and although I'm absolutely loving it here in Peru I can't wait to get back to Australia.
