Australia will send 15 lifters to the Pacific Games in Papua New Guinea next month, headed by Commonwealth Games athletes Erika Ropati-Frost and Malek Chamoun.

National High Performance Director, Jacquie White, said there’s some new faces in the squad who will get a chance to prove themselves.

“I’ll actually be really interested to see how everyone goes, because it’s a fairly new senior team for us,” White said.

“There are a few athletes on the team who are our emerging senior athletes, so to speak, so it will be really good to see how they perform in an international competition.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing how they go and expecting some strong results.”

The full team is:
  • Mary Barter (nee Witham)
  • Erika Ropati-Frost (nee Yamasaki)
  • Tia-Clair Toomey
  • Kiana Elliott
